How to get to Kuro House?

Renting a car is the most convenient and practical way for the best Myoko experience. A car gives you the freedom to explore nearby ski resorts, restaurants and neighbouring cities at your own pace. 

*Important note to ensure that your car fitted with studless winter tyres and has AWD/4WD. This is essential for snow driving to keep everyone safe on the roads. Roof racks to carry skis and snowboards is also a great addition to consider for your comfort and convenience.

1) If you are coming from the airport or Tokyo, renting a car and driving up is a good option. This is also a cost-effective option for groups as you save money by not having to purchase bullet train tickets. It may however be difficult to find a suitable vehicle for the snow.

2) Take the bullet train from Tokyo to Joetsu-Myoko station, have a car rental booking lined up from the various car rental agencies around the station and Kuro House is a 25 minute drive from there. Most, if not all of the car rental agencies in this area during winter have their cars set up for snow driving. Booking is essential as majority of people visiting Myoko do it this way.

3) Take the bullet train from Tokyo to Nagano station and change to the local Kita-shinano railway to Myoko Kogen station. Kuro House is located a short 3 minute drive away or 12 minutes on foot. This could be a good option if you have a local car rental lined up.
